8 Month Update!!

I’m so sorry I have seriously lagged on Laylas’s update posts lately. I think the last one I did was a few weeks late and may have skipped a month or two! I often saw other bloggers skipping the monthly updates as their babies got a bit older and now I know why. There comes a point where you are going non stop and these little ones are into EVERYTHING. We have definitely hit that stage! Lots of big milestones have happened since our last check in so i’ll get started with those..

Sleeping Through the Night: NOT HAPPENING! She still goes down at 7pm and usually wakes up at 7am. During the night she will wake up around 11:30pm and again around 3:30am. She takes a morning nap for about and hour and a second nap from 1:30pm-3:30pm. Lets just say she is a HOT mess if girlfriend doesnt get those naps!
Clothes: Layla’s wearing 6-9 month clothes and some 3-6 just depends on the brand! We just upped the diaper size to a size 3 and now she’s wearing night time diapers. She weighs 16 pounds and is 27 inches tall!
Crawling: at 7 months and very shortly after started standing up. Now she is like a little money hanging on every ledge, table, chair and wall she get her little hands on! I feel like walking is a few weeks away. While she babbles up a storm she’s still not talking yet! I can’t wait for her first words! She also loves to bang on anything that makes a noise thats fun 😉
More Teeth: Now this week her top 2 teeth are coming in and they make the first two teeth look like they were easy. She has gotten up every hour crying and nothing seems to help her. I feel horrible so hopefully they come in soon!
Food: She will eat ANYTHING! Now that she is 8 months old I am still giving her 3 meals a day, plus snacks and bottles! Breakfast she has a fruit pouch, puffs, and yogurt drops. Lunch is a fruit pouch that is usually left over from lunch and more puffs. Dinner is a meat pouch, and normally I give her what I eat. This past week she has not been wanting anything but what I am eating, she will throw a huge fit if she doesn’t get to eat the same thing as me, coming up with things that she and I can both eat is my next challenge. Tonight was her first night eating spaghetti and she went nuts over it, like mama like daughter! The pouch brand I buy are still the Plum and Earths Best they have the lowest sugar content.

I just can’t get enough of this sweet little face!! She is really a happy smiley baby but I can tell already this little lady has some sass! My favorite time with her is when she wakes up from her name she gets this burst of energy and is crazzzzy! She goes nuts climbing all over us, the couch, dogs, anything she can and testing out her vocal skills 😉 Im just loving every minute of this stage!!

Away we go! Sister wants and be on the go, watch out world! Funny story I picked Layla up from Mothers Day Out and I always ask the teachers..”Was Layla good or bad??” normally every response is “Oh she’s so good and sweet, had a great day!” well on Thursday I got her and asked her teacher the same questions and I got this response..”WELLLLL….today she chased the other babies around with her mouth open biting them on the butt!” lol I was not shocked because that sounds like my daughter lol as long as it doesn’t get her kicked out I thought it was cute!

Traveling Tips with Baby

IMG_1471.JPG

We recently went on a trip to Cabo San Lucas in Mexico and we brought the little pumpkin with us! Let me tell you I was so scared to travel with her, that was my biggest fear! But in the end she did so well I would do it all over again. She was so good on the plane, loved the airports, and was great in the car ride to and from the hotel! We had to have a layover in Houston but it was perfect because it was her nap time so she slept good and then we hopped on our flight to Cabo! Layla and I shared a suitcase for the clothes, shoes, and accessories and Dads suitcase had the wipes, formula, bottles etc. We spent a whole week in Cabo and I will break down everything I packed and what I did with her to help out anyone else who is traveling with a baby!

Packing For a Beach Vacay!

Carry On Bag:

  • Bottles with formula pre measured so all you need to add is water
  • Snacks
  • Diapers, wipes, changing pad
  • change of clothes
  • socks
  • teething toys
  • empty ziplock to put any dirty diapers for the airplane trash can
  • Ipad with Mickey downloaded on it already because some planes don’t have wifi
  • IF flying international bring a copy of their immunization records
  • Passport for baby if flying international

Stroller /Car Seat-

  • Trash bag labeled with name number and address for the car seat at gate check
  • Gelleo Stoller seat to keep baby cool (purchased on amazon)
  • Car seat cover so baby doesn’t get all that airport lights in their eyes

Suitcase:

  • 7 PJs
  • 7 Day Outfits
  • 7 Dinner Outfits
  • 2-3 Swimsuits
  • Sleep Sack
  • Sunhats
  • Shoes
  • bows
  • pacifer
  • formula
  • bottles
  • Diapers
  • Wipes
  • Butt Cream
  • Bibs
  • Baby food in pouch
  • Audio baby moniter
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen
  • Swaddle blanket

We choose to flight out on the 5am flight which was perfect because Layla slept right as we took off until we landed in Houston, also I kept her in her pajamas and jazzed it up with a bow so she would be comfortable! I suggest taking flights when it is the time they should be asleep it makes it easier on you and everyone around you. I got out the iPad on the way from Houston to Cabo and that kept her entertained for a while, then we ate some snacks, played with everything near us, and as soon as you know it we were landing! Gate checking the car seat and stroller was amazing for us because we had long layovers and big airports to try and get through. If you are taking a local flight I would just check that in with your bags and carry baby. Changing baby on airplane was not as hard as I thought, we fly united and they had a changing station in the bathroom which was so nice.If you are going international be sure to get baby passport 3 months in advanced! I hope all this information helps you on your next trip!
